Note from the Publisher

A letter to readers

After a decade of outstanding leadership, Martin Samuels has decided to step down as Editor-in-Chief of Journal Watch Neurology. Dr. Samuels launched the publication and recruited a large group of talented contributors and a dedicated physician advisory board. Through the years, he has provided wisdom and editorial acumen. Dr. Samuels and his thoughtful guidance will be sorely missed. He will continue in the position until we have found a new editor.

We are currently accepting applications for the position of Editor-in-Chief. We seek an internationally known practitioner who is actively involved in both academic and clinical aspects of neurology and who will provide dynamic leadership and editorial vision for the publication. An interest in online medical learning is essential.

The editor ensures that Journal Watch Neurology meets the high standards of the Journal Watch family and the needs of readers by leading the physician editorial board and coordinating its literature surveillance and other activities in conjunction with Massachusetts Medical Society staff.

The editor also plans and leads board meetings; reviews marketing materials; and collaborates with the publisher, editorial board, editors of the other Journal Watch publications, and MMS staff to develop and implement long-term strategic goals. The position requires 8 to 15 hours per month, on average. All work can be conducted via e-mail. However, travel may be required once or twice a year to attend editorial meetings.

Candidates should send a CV and a letter detailing their interest in and qualifications for the position to csadlowski@mms.org or Journal Watch Neurology Search Committee, c/o Christine Sadlowski, Massachusetts Medical Society, 860 Winter Street, Waltham, MA 02451.

The deadline for receipt of applications is October 30, 2009.

We at Journal Watch look forward to continuing to bring useful, relevant, engaging, and timely information to our readership of neurology experts.
